Located at 3107 S I-35 Frontage Rd #760, this hidden gem offers a unique blend of rich flavors and warm hospitality that transports diners to the heart of India, right in the middle of Texas.

Walking into The Spice Garden, you're greeted with a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant’s interiors are tastefully decorated, reflecting the rich culture and history of Indian cuisine. The ambiance is casual and welcoming, making it perfect for a family dinner or a casual night out with friends. The staff is friendly, always ready to guide you through the menu and offer recommendations if you're unsure of what to try.

The menu at The Spice Garden is a delightful mix of traditional Indian dishes with a twist. From the aromatic curries to the perfectly grilled meats, there's something for everyone. One standout item is the Chicken Tikka Masala. This classic dish is made with tender chicken simmered in a creamy, spiced tomato sauce, offering a perfect balance of rich flavors. If you're looking for something with a little more kick, their Vindaloo, a spicy and tangy curry, is sure to hit the spot.

Vegetarians will also find plenty of options to satisfy their cravings. The Paneer Tikka is a must-try, with cubes of paneer marinated in a blend of spices and grilled to perfection. It’s smoky, flavorful, and just the right amount of charred. Another favorite is the Dal Tadka, a simple yet comforting dish made with yellow lentils, tempered with ghee, cumin, and garlic. It’s hearty and full of flavor, perfect for pairing with some warm naan.

The Spice Garden doesn't just focus on main dishes; their appetizers are equally impressive. The Samosas, crispy on the outside with a spicy potato filling, are a great way to start your meal. Pair them with a refreshing Mango Lassi to balance out the spices and cool down your palate.

For those who enjoy exploring flavors, the restaurant also offers a variety of rice dishes, including Biryani. The Biryani at The Spice Garden is fragrant, with each grain of rice perfectly cooked and infused with spices. You can choose from a variety of meats or go for the vegetarian version, both of which are equally satisfying.

Dessert lovers won’t be disappointed either. The Gulab Jamun, small dough balls soaked in a sugary syrup, are the perfect end to your meal. They're sweet, warm, and melt in your mouth. If you're not in the mood for something too sweet, the Kheer, a rice pudding made with milk, cardamom, and saffron, is a lighter yet equally delightful choice.

What truly sets The Spice Garden apart is its attention to detail and consistency. A large comfortable restaurant with high ceilings that absorb the sound of other patrons so you can easily hold a conversation. The restaurant says it is Indo-Chinese which to them means they have separate sections on the extensive menu for Indian and Chinese dishes. On this occasion we were hankering after fried rice and were delighted to see several options on the menu. My wife ordered chicken fried rice, I ordered shrimp fried rice, both with no hot spices. We started with veggie spring rolls, which were excellent and veggie sweet corn soup which was also excellent. Both fried rice dishes were also delicious, and the portions were generous enough that we took half of each dish home for our supper the next day. On this occasion we both drank water and our total bill was $55 before tip. Service was excellent and the restrooms were clean and well stocked. We will be back to try food from the Indian offerings on the menu.

First time in Austin and this was our first meal here. Halal Indo-Chinese. We ordered Mongolian beef and Chicken 65 fried rice. It came fast, was packed well, and tasted fresh with really good flavor. Honestly just hit the spot after a long day. We were so happy with it. Definitely ordering again when we’re back in Austin.
